course "Advanced Songwriting and Studio Recording" is designed
for students who wish to develop their skills in songwriting and arranging
and those wishing to extend their knowledge and experience of working
in a fully-equipped digital recording studio.
The aim of this course is to enable students to spend time developing their personal writing skills to enable them to develop an indivual style as a songwriter. The other aspect of the course teaches students the elements of studio recording and production. They will have access to a range of recording media and will follow a workshop programme in various aspects of live and studio techniques. During the week students will be based at the BA Recording Studios and have access to a qualified sound engineer, professional songwriter and Beauville Arts Producer. There will be an informal concert of new material on the final Friday evening (12 August) and all recordings of the music written will be available to students. Please note that the places will be limited and will be allocated on a 'first come first served' basis.

Accommodation & Meals
Students will be lodged in tented accommodation in Beauville within easy walking distance of the rehearsal rooms/recording studio as well as the facilities of Beauville village itself. Meals, including a hot meal each evening will be provided at Beauville Arts.
The Director of the course is Jonathan Mallalieu MA(Oxon), PGCE. He has had a distiguished career in the world of Performing Arts and has held the post of Director of Music in several schools within both the UK and International sectors. He has extensive experience as a Rock, Pop and Jazz performer, both as a soloist and in groups. He is a freelance composer and songwriter; he has released several dance records and written numerous TV scores and is Artistic Director of Beauville Arts.

BA Studios offers an
environment which is professional yet friendly.
The studio is fully equipped with digital recording, editing and playback equipment. There is a wide range of recording media and a variety of recording methods and techniques on offer.
BA Studios has the facilities
to record a wide range of musicians, from singer/songwriters who wish
to record in a controlled studio environment to 'live' rock and jazz
recordings and classical groups, choirs and orchestras.
The Studio offers a wonderful
calm environment in which to work.
